Journal of Animal Production is published by Ege Animal Science Association in Turkey. It has been published since 1974. Contents of the previous all issues of the journal since 1974 can be seen from web site of the journal. Full text of the articles published in the journal were became available on the web after 1998.

Journal of Animal Production (J. Anim. Prod.) is a peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research articles, well documented reviews and letter to the editor on all aspects of animal production, animal husbandry, animal nutrition, animal breeding, animal welfare, animal biotechnology, animal mechanization, statistical and economical evaluations of animal data, animal products and their processing technologies.

It is a peer-reviewed journal with high standards of scientific rules and publication ethics. Any article published in the journal is also published full text in electronic format on the web. Official languages of the journal are Turkish and English. The layout of the article includes both Turkish and English abstracts and keywords.

It is published on a regular and timely basis since 2001. Journal of Animal Production are published twice a year in May and November. Two special issues were published. One of them is on poultry science (1982), onother is about Prof.Dr.Reşit Sönmez (1990).

Journal of Animal Production was initially published for reviews, brief practical notes, news and some research results to animal breeders. However with the issue 36 published in 1995 it was started to publish scientific research articles and original reviews. It becames refereed journals with the issue 39 published in 1999. Structure of the articles published in the journal was improved to international standards in 2001 and became published seperate issues regularly two times in a year (May and November). Paper size of the journal was initially B5. However it was changed from B5 to A4 along with two column text since 2004 by the issue 45(1) as a new world standard for printing. 

Manuscripts are edited into printed form after acception for publication which is completely different form from initually requested one from authors. The latest  intructions for authors are available on the web page or on the latest issue of the journal.

Since to publish a scientific journal is expensive, printing costs are requested from authors. It is also important to publish journal timely and regular basis. Printing cost for each manuscript is calculated based on the edited number of pages.
